Former ISEF Student from Moorhead Named Presidential Scholar

The Minnesota Academy of Science wishes to congratulate Haleigh Larson, Park Christian School 12th grader, for being selected as a 2014 Presidential Scholar.

The White House Commission on Presidential Scholars, appointed by President Obama, selects 141 honored scholars from over three million graduates, annually based on their academic success, artistic excellence, essays, school evaluations and transcripts, as well as evidence of community service, leadership, and demonstrated commitment to high ideals.

Haleigh will be presented with this prestigious award during the annual ceremony in D.C. in June. Mrs. Krista Rankin, PCS Science teacher, is invited to attend with her as the most influential teacher in her life.

Haleigh was an ISEF finalist in 2012 from the Western region. Haleigh will be attending Yale University in New Haven, CT in the fall. Yale has an acceptance rate of less than seven percent. (6.8%) She has received a scholarship to Yale that covers nearly all of the tuition. Haleigh will begin an internship under James Rothman. He won the Noble Prize in medicine and physiology in 2013.
