Minnesota Academy of Science Welcomes Nicholas Schlotter to Board of Directors
Chemistry Professor Will Help Guide Nonprofit
[St. Paul, MN, December 21, 2022] -- The Minnesota Academy of Science (MAS) is honored to welcome Dr. Nicholas Schlotter of St. Paul to its Board of Directors. Dr. Schlotter brings extensive experience regarding post-secondary education to the Minnesota nonprofit. βI am pleased to be joining the board of MAS,β says Dr. Schlotter. βI feel the Academy supports important venues for communicating science to the public in Minnesota and provides opportunities for many young people to be involved in STEM. I am delighted to contribute to these missions.β
Dr. Schlotter is Associate Professor of Chemistry and Chair of the Chemistry Department at Hamline University in St. Paul and an active member of the American Chemical Society. He holds a PhD in Chemistry and a MS in Physics from Stanford University, as well as a BA in Chemistry from Carleton College.
βDr. Schlotter brings many years of experience regarding science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) education for Minnesota students,β said MAS Executive Director Lara Maupin. βHis knowledge will benefit MAS as we work to open doors to STEM for Minnesotans of all backgrounds.β
Founded in 1873, MAS is a statewide 501(c)3 nonprofit organization committed to connecting Minnesotans of all backgrounds with resources and opportunities to engage in STEM learning, research, and communication - and to recognize excellence in these areas. MASβ programs include team competitions, individual research paper and project showcases, and mentoring and enrichment programs that promote STEM inquiry and research.
