Science Fair and JSHS Social Media Contest

Join the Science Fair and JSHS Conversation!

If you’re anything like us here at the Minnesota Academy of Science, you’ve been looking forward to getting together at the end of March for the Minnesota State Science and Engineering Fair and the North Central Junior Science and Humanities Symposium. We’re disappointed that we won’t be seeing everyone in person this year, but we’re really excited to see all the virtual presentations and project boards!

Since we can’t be together in person this year, we put together a social media contest to encourage everyone to share information from their projects and stories related to STEM. The decision to participate or not in this contest will have no effect on how your project or presentation is judged and is completely voluntary.

The details

1) Mention/tag the Minnesota Academy of Science so that we’re sure to see your post:

Instagram: @minnesotaacademyofscience

Facebook: @MNAScience

Twitter: @MNAcadSci

2) Write a message and/or post a picture using the following hashtags:

#MNSSEF_FirstProject

Did you participate in a Science Fair in elementary school - if so do you remember any of your early projects? How about any experiments with your parents or friends around the kitchen sink as a kid? Share your stories or memories here!

#MNSSEF_HaHa

Has anything funny happened to you while preparing a scientific project or giving a presentation? Ever had an experiment gone horribly (but non-tragically awry)? Got a great Science Fair joke you’ve been saving up? Share it here!

#MNSSEF_OnlyInMN

Was there some aspect of your project unique to The North Star State? Did your project contribute to the public good of Minnesotans? If not, you can share a picture of your project board with a Minnesota symbol - think loon, blueberry muffin, mosquito - or be creative!

#MNSSEF

Post a picture and/or summary of your 2020 project board. You could also include a picture of yourself with your board, any aspects of your experiment or research, or a clip from your presentation. Was anything about your project harder than you first thought it would be? How did you react to these challenges? What were your favorite parts about working on your project? Did you learn or experience anything unexpected during your research?

#NorthCentralJSHS
