Minnesota Academy of Science Welcomes Monika Vadali to Board of Directors

[St. Paul, MN, August 19, 2023] -- The Minnesota Academy of Science (MAS) is pleased to announce the addition of Dr. Monika Vadali to its Board of Directors. Dr. Vadali, a Senior Program Manager in Renewable Energy at the Great Plains Institute, has an extensive background in environmental justice and energy equity. A resident of Plymouth, Dr. Vadali holds a master’s of public affairs from the University of Minnesota’s Humphrey School of Public Affairs and a doctorate from the University of Minnesota’s School of Public Health. Dr. Vadali is a commissioner on the Environmental Quality Committee for the city of Plymouth and is an advisor for the Women in Leadership Certificate Program at Minnesota State University, Mankato.

As an experienced scientist, Dr. Vadali will play an important role in guiding MAS’ mission of promoting science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) education throughout the state. “I strongly believe STEM education is a basis for any career path and should be available for every kid who wants to pursue it. As the world we live in changes so rapidly, it has become more imperative that real world experiences be integrated with education for a sustainable future,” said Dr. Vadali. “I am very interested in creating STEM learning opportunities for all Minnesota students and providing links between education and experience.”

Her nonprofit experience and passion for creating STEM learning opportunities for Minnesota students will be a huge asset as we work to address current challenges and advance STEM education in Minnesota,” said Lara Maupin, MAS Executive Director.
