Through FORSE, MAS seeks to address persistent opportunity gaps in STEM education in Minnesota, diversify our programs, and open doors to STEM majors and careers for Minnesota students of all backgrounds.

More about FORSE’s History and Impact

FORSE began as an intentional and focused effort to dismantle barriers to participation in our state’s science fairs. In its first three years, FORSE brought students and scientists together for enrichment units at the elementary level and science project mentoring at the middle school level. In its fourth and fifth years, as schools and students faced the educational challenges presented by the pandemic, FORSE grew into something more than middle school mentoring and elementary level enrichment. We created a program tailored to the specific and most pressing needs of our partner sites—and were able to bring them virtual STEM tutors and lessons, volunteers, and hands-on activities.
