Minnesota Academy of Science Welcomes New Board of Directors Cohort
Six Representatives from the Minnesota Community Will Help Guide Nonprofit
[St. Paul, MN, September 25, 2021] -- The Minnesota Academy of Science (MAS) is honored to welcome six new Board of Directors members from Minnesota’s science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) community. The new Board members will each support the nonprofit’s work to advance STEM education throughout Minnesota.
“I am honored to welcome this new cohort of professionals to the MAS Board of Directors,” said Lara Maupin, MAS Executive Director. “Each new Board member will be a large asset in guiding MAS’ mission to open doors to STEM for Minnesotans of all backgrounds.”
MAS’ six new Board of Directors members represent the breadth of Minnesota’s STEM community. They began their three-year terms effective September 1, 2021. The new board members are:
Mr. John Morris, Value Stream Leader at Collins Aerospace,
Ms. Margo Bowerman, Educator at the University of Minnesota Extension Center for Youth Development,
Ms. Lori Haak, Biology Teacher at Simley High School,
Dr. Haleh Hagh-Shenas, Data Science Specialist at 3M,
Dr. Gregory Park, Associate Director at the University of Minnesota Office of Biotechnology Activities Oversight, and
Dr. Kannan Seshadri, Advanced Product Development Specialist at 3M
Founded in 1873, MAS is a statewide 501(c)3 nonprofit organization committed to connecting Minnesotans of all backgrounds with resources and opportunities to engage in STEM learning, research, and communication - and to recognize excellence in these areas. MAS’ programs include team competitions, individual research paper and project showcases, and mentoring and enrichment programs that promote STEM inquiry and research.
