Minnesota Academy of Science Welcomes Dr. Patrick Moore to Board of Directors

[St. Paul, MN, March 19, 2024] --  The Minnesota Academy of Science (MAS) is honored to welcome Dr.  Patrick Moore of Otsego to its Board of Directors. Dr. Moore brings extensive scientific experience to the Minnesota nonprofit, and has previously served as a judge at the State Science Fair organized by MAS. “I aim to be involved in decision making processes, policy development, and setting standards within the Minnesota scientific education community,” says Dr. Moore. “Joining the MAS Board of Directors would enable me to actively contribute to the advancement of young and adult science education and have a positive impact on its direction.”

Dr. Moore is the Senior Translational Research Program Coordinator at the University of Minnesota Masonic Cancer Center. He holds a PhD in Microbiology from University College Dublin, Ireland as well as a BSc in Biomedical Science from Technological University of Dublin, Ireland. He has also served on the Environmental Resource Commission at the Champlin City Council and is a member of the Minnesota Public Health Association.

“Dr. Moore brings a wealth of experience from his career that will benefit Minnesota students studying science, technology, engineering and math (STEM),” said MAS Executive Director Lara Maupin. “His knowledge will be of assistance to MAS as we work to open doors to STEM for Minnesotans of all backgrounds.”

Founded in 1873, MAS is a statewide 501(c)3 nonprofit organization committed to connecting Minnesotans of all backgrounds with resources and opportunities to engage in STEM learning, research, and communication - and to recognize excellence in these areas. MAS’ programs include team competitions, STEM project showcases, and mentoring and enrichment programs that promote STEM inquiry and research.
